Welcome to the Geo-Group Research Page
Our research encompases both experimental and numerical investigations of geotechnical engineering systems. The laboratory facilities at McGill allow us to conduct both reduced and full scale experiments and measure the response of a subsurface structure to both static and cyclic loading. In addition, the group has access to the C-CORE centrifuge facility in Newfoundland. The group has extensive experience in numerical modeling of complex soil-structure interaction problems using both finite element (FE) and discrete element (DE) methods. The Geo-Group has developed a novel numerical tool that combines both DE-FE methods to capture the soil behavior around buried structures.
