Teaching
Overview of courses and learning activities in geotechnical engineering.
Teaching activities support education in geotechnical engineering and related areas at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Selected courses
| Course | Title | Level | Brief description |
|---|---|---|---|
| CIVE 311 | Geotechnical Mechanics | Undergraduate | Introduction to the mechanical behaviour of soils and the fundamentals of geotechnical engineering. |
| CIVE 416 | Geotechnical Engineering | Undergraduate | Course on geotechnical engineering practice, including foundations, earth-retaining structures, and slope stability. |
| Other courses | Advanced topics in geotechnical engineering | Undergraduate and graduate | Courses that address applications of soil mechanics, soil structure interaction, and numerical modeling in geomechanics. |
Professional training and short courses
In addition to for-credit university courses, short courses can be offered upon request for groups of practicing engineers and graduate students.
- Geotechnical finite element analysis using commercial software packages (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience RS2).
- Geotechnical design using geosynthetics.
